Update from Helen Gavin on Eynsham Repair Cafè’s mask making

Sewing volunteers from Eynsham grouped together under the banner of the Eynsham Repair Cafe to make face masks over summer in response to requests from local people.  In total we made over 450 masks, asking only for a small donation to cover the cost of materials. People were generous with their donations, however, which meant we were able to raise £800 for charity. We decided to spilt the donation four ways in order to support a range of people that have been affected by the coronovirus pandemic.

We agreed to give £200 each to Eynsham Food Bank, the British Legion, Eynsham Preschool, and Crisis.

Each organisation has sent their appreciation and gratitude.

So well done to the mask makers for their time and creativity, and thank you to the mask owners who donated generously, resulting in our ability to support many more people locally.

It feels good to be able to help each other in these troubled times.
