Eynsham Community Larder

The last few months have seen several new families in receipt of food parcels from the Eynsham Community Larder but also 2 or 3 families ending their request as, for example, furlough ended and full time work resumed. A significant development over the last 4 months has been support from the Oxford Foodbank Warehouse which itself was receiving food from a central government food charities pot. This has now ended so we are looking at other sources to top up our donations – in either food or cash.

Many people have donated home grown produce which has been wonderful and the food baskets in the Co-Op, Spar and Tesco’s continue to be filled. The community donations has now passed £7,700 of which we have so far spent £4,800 – all on food for the Larder. Over 100 people have been helped in this great gesture of community support. Of course the economic implications of the virus are far from over and the need for the Larder service is likely to grow over the coming months. Meanwhile the Eynsham Heroes continue with their support and its easy to see how fortunate we are to live in a village community like Eynsham
